“CATCH ME was a tryout gig. Rick Ford wanted to see if I could direct. I had no money at all; I think the budget was $15,000. My producer and production manager, the late Dan Cross, was filming a Doug Jeffries movie in the same soundstage the same week as my shoot. So I asked if he would consider leaving the sets up to save me the cost of building new ones, and he agreed. Suddenly CATCH ME had a behind-the-scenes theme born out of necessity and a low budget. I don’t remember anymore which Jeffries movie filmed right before mine; I’ll let you know if I figure it out.”
