Director’s Note from Jake Jaxson: Jake Jaxson and R.J. Sebastian here. We have been very open about what A Thing of Beauty means to us — it is the first of what we hope to be many collaborations with each other. In this series of short films, or what we call “erotic poems,” we are deliberately connecting ourselves, our struggles, our love, and our sexual “beings” to our work.
In this film, we start with “the daily grind.” It has caused more fights, upset, and stress in our 15-year relationship together than anything else. When allowed, the monotony of the everyday has become a slow poison and the stress and the daily grind is sand and water — it erodes the land and turns mountains into hills.
However, as in nature, water also gives us life and sand becomes glass, both helping us to see and live better lives. Stress and upset will always exist, but we can just as easily be in a place of peace, abundance, love, and connection.
This became real to us when we were stuck in horrific traffic one morning and were beyond aggravated — first at the traffic, then at each other. As we were taking a back street to our office, we drove along side the gnarly, hellish Long Island Expressway, and in all that rusty, twisted metal, it appeared to be smiling back at us — even laughing at us! Now, whenever we go to work — especially on bad days — we always make sure to drive past the “laughing” bridge. And every time, we smile back.
PART 1 – WE TWO BOYS TOGETHER CLINGING: Colby Keller fucks Dale Cooper
Part I of “A Thing of Beauty” introduces us to Colby Keller and Dale Cooper — two men who share a unique chemistry with each other both on and off camera. Hand in hand, they explore a tropical oasis, joking around on the beach, swimming, laughing, while the Walt Whitman poem, “We Two Boys Together Clinging,” perfectly illustrates their friendship and bond over 100 years after it was written. This is paradise, firmly contrasted with the grunge and grime of the loud, dark, and dirty city — the daily grind.
But it’s the passion we see between Dale and Colby — the unique chemistry the two share as both performers and as men — that elevates this film to a new territory transcending porn. It’s the way they look into each other’s eyes, the kisses they share on their cliff-side balcony overlooking the ocean, the way Dale takes Colby’s cock in his mouth and the way Colby grips Dale’s shoulders as he steadily fucks him that makes us see the true beauty of sex.

PART 2 – A LIFE WORTH LIVING: Gabriel Clark fucks JD Phoenix!
Part II of A THING OF BEAUTY expands upon the “eroti-doc” style of filmmaking spearheaded by filmmakers Jake Jaxson and RJ Sebastian, this time structuring the film around the first stanza of RJ’s favorite poem, “Endymion” by John Keats (the first line also inspiring the series’ name). Featuring a cameo appearance by the directors’ third boyfriend, Benny Morecock, Part II is very much another visual poem fueled by optimism, adventure, and the celebration of sex.
As an interpretive collage, the film meshes overt excerpts from the poem in the directors’ personal lives with their allegorical sexual counterparts featuring CockyBoys Gabriel Clark and JD Phoenix. While intentionally subjective in nature, this poetic style of filmmaking is undoubtedly connected through feeling more than reason — a departure from Part I’s convergence of resigned monotony and speculative fantasy.
By bringing Morecock into the film, Jake and RJ are sharing a personal part of themselves — something not many directors are willing to do in a porn film. This kind of boldness and confidence behind the camera embraces viewers in a way they might not be expecting, inviting them to share the kisses between Gabriel and JD, the smell of the ocean, and the raw power and passion of sex. As powerhouse performers, Gabriel and JD share a sexual dynamic and chemistry between each other that is authentic enough to put you right in the middle of the action.
PART 3 – THE GIFT!: Gabriel Clark & Colby Keller fuck/DP JD Phoenix
“THE GIFT” is the third iteration of the A Thing of Beauty series. These short films have been a continuous exploration and tribute to the beauty within our lives — whether it’s poetry, music, nature, or the love between two men — A Thing of Beauty explores the connections we have with the world and one another.
While the previous two installments expressed sexual intimacy through poetry, music, and imagery, “The Gift” begins with an interview with Gabriel Clark in which he talks about the scar on his head and the near-death experience that caused it. This episode evokes not just an appreciation for the things within our lives, but an appreciation for the gift of life itself. With Gabriel sharing a rare and vulnerable side to him, we’re able to connect to him in a personal way that digs far deeper than just his amazing body and sexual prowess.
Starring in this episode alongside Gabriel are Colby Keller and JD Phoenix. Gabriel and Colby together make incredible sexual partners, but with JD Phoenix joining them later, the passion blurs into new territory as the three men re-appropriate the way they work together. Culminating in a sweltering double-penetration scene (a first for Colby Keller), “The Gift” showcases one of the most hardcore sexual acts in perhaps the most erotic way ever captured on film. PART 4 – FREE TO BE ME: Gabriel Clark & Colby Keller fuck/DP Dale Cooper
A Thing of Beauty has so far showcased some of the most passionate sex between men you’ll see on film, and this addition raises the bar yet again. As much of a celebration of sex as it is an exploration, Part IV focuses on those particular moments in life that just can’t escape us — living in a new city, meeting someone special, diving head first (literally) into a new adventure, and the kind of deep sexual intimacy only experienced every so often.
Colby Keller, Gabriel Clark, and Dale Cooper share a chemistry with each other that perfectly illustrates one of these moments. They traverse a Mexican paradise as companions — boating, swimming, discovering, and collecting memories in the same vein as Whitman. Their understood unity only becomes more powerful as it manifests itself sexually, exploding into a ravenous threesome back on the shore.
Colby and Dale’s relationship is already wrought with real emotion and passion, but adding Gabriel to the mix brings that raw intensity to another level.
